Six thousand one hundred sixty-five* Legazpi Thomasians dressed in yellow, black, and white filled the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi – the Premier Dominican University of Bicol as it opened its doors again for the opening of S.Y. 2023-2024 last August 9.
Radiating vibrant and positive energies, academic departments and several student organizations conducted welcoming ceremonies to accommodate the new blood of Legazpi Thomasians. The Basic Education Department (Preschool and Elementary, Junior High School, and Senior High School) centered their first day on homeroom orientations to accustom the students immediately to the culture of the university. The Junior High School even set up a photo booth at the St. Albert building to add more euphoria to the university’s first-day high.
Meanwhile, the tertiary level through its Supreme Student Council (SSC) and College Student Councils (CSCs) continued its annual “Biristuhan” – the opening celebration for new students, which started with a welcome march from the grounds of St. Dominic de Guzman Building to the UST-Legazpi Dome. This was followed by the Biristuhan 2023 Program proper led by the SSC.
On the other hand, the traditional Mass of the Holy Spirit will commence on August 10, 2023 with several schedules to accommodate the entire student body and workforce.
In other news, the institutional, departmental, and orientations will take place from August 11 until August 15, 2023.
