After a week of playing sports, the growling tiger athletes of the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi successfully bagged five medals from three sporting events at the 2023 Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games held last July 13-19, 2023 at Zamboanga City.
Hanging the first medal for the team is Patrisha Pante who clinched a gold medal at the Athletics Girls Long Jump with Mr. Arnong Beringuela as her coach.
For the swimming event, Sean Emmett Yap followed immediate success after winning bronze at the 4×200 medley relay swimming. The next day, he won another gold medal after a strong finish at the 200 meters freestyle relay. Yap was coached by Mr. Jigoh Constantine Lucila.
On the other hand, Sheina Mae Quiambao successfully bagged a bronze medal after defeating Region 4B in the Badminton Collegiate Mixed Doubles Quarter Final Match with Ms. Ma. Luisa B. Buella as her coach.
After a tight joust with the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the Bicol Region’s Beach Volleyball Girls composed of Helen Nicole Bertes, Jannine Micah Montas, and Ma. Nichole Nato from UST-Legazpi took home bronze medals on the final day of the games. Coached by Mr. Arnold Beringuela and Mr. Paolo Capobres, UST-Legazpi’s Beach Volleyball Girls hang the final set of medals for Team Bicol.
In the end, the Bicol Region finished third in the Youth Division and ninth in the Seniors Division.
