UST-LEGAZPI CELEBRATES RESILIENCE AND ACHIEVEMENT AT BACCALAUREATE MASS

On July 11, 2024, the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi held a memorable baccalaureate mass for the College of Health Sciences’ graduating students. This special occasion, attended by the candidates for graduation, parents, university officials, and guests, was led by Rev. Fr. Edwin A. Lao, OP, MM, DBA, the university’s Rector and President. The Vice President for Administration and Finance, Fr. Junel Pedroso, OP,LPT,STHL/MA, the homilist, delivered a touching message on the importance of gratitude, reminding graduates to acknowledge the support systems that have propelled them to this significant milestone.

Among the highlights of the event was a powerful testimony by Klaresse P. Buena, a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy candidate. Klaresse’s inspiring journey from the province of Camarines Norte to UST-Legazpi showcases her unwavering determination and faith. Initially aspiring to be an engineer, she discovered her true calling in pharmacy, guided by her belief in divine direction and her desire to make a difference.

Klaresse’s college years were filled with challenges, from adapting to online learning during the pandemic to balancing rigorous academics and leadership roles. Her story is one of resilience, supported by her friends, faculty, and family. As a leader, she served as block president and held positions in the College of Health Sciences Student Council, demonstrating her commitment to her peers and community.

In her address, Klaresse expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported her journey. She spoke of the importance of perseverance, faith, and the support of loved ones in overcoming obstacles. Her words resonated deeply with the audience, highlighting the power of compassion and determination.

The baccalaureate mass was not just a celebration of academic achievements but also a testament to the remarkable personal growth and strength of each graduates. It was a day filled with joy, reflection, and hope for the future, marking a significant chapter in the lives of UST-Legazpi’s College of Health Sciences graduates.
