LTO BICOL PARTNERS WITH UST-LEGAZPI; DISCUSSES ROAD ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN

The University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi was selected by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Bicol’s pilot area for its Road Advocacy Campaign last March 29, 2023, at the UST-Legazpi’s Daragang Magayon Hall (DMH). Lead participants were students from the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Fine Arts (CEAFA) together with some teaching and non-teaching personnel of the university.

Opening the floor was the university’s Director for Physical Plant and Facilities Management Office (PPFMO), Ms. Edhrlyn a. Auditor, MSME who also serves as the Safety Officer of UST-Legazpi.

“As a member of the academic circle, we play an important role in promoting safety not only in the university but also in ensuring our safety wherever we go,” Auditor on her opening remarks.

While the university maintains and implements the safety precautions of different aspects considering infrastructure, safety, and health, UST-Legazpi is also aware that part of its student and workforce body is already driving their vehicles.

That is why “it is always critical that we are aware of the principles and standards, and the laws that will guide us thoroughly on what we do,” she continued her remarks on the importance of discussing road safety.

Meanwhile, distinguished representatives from LTO discussed topics relevant to the said event.

Atty. Ma. Elena A. Millano, Legal Officer of LTO Bicol, talked about Road Safety Principles; Ramona Clemencia S. Lavadia, Officer-in-Charge of LTO Naga’s Driver’s License Renewal Center, on LTO Mandates, on the other hand; Kris Gerard A. Martinez, Assistant Chief of LTO Ligao, on Defense Driving, while; Glenn A. Mancera, Operations Division’s Officer-in-Charge of LTO Bicol, on Special Laws.

On the other hand, LTO Bicol’s Regional Director Francisco P. Ranches, Jr., CESO VI, and Assistant Regional Director Vincent O. Nato, both delivered welcoming messages before the beginning of the aforementioned insightful discussions.

LTO and UST-Legazpi both believe that this partnership shall continue to pave the way for more meaningful activities that will benefit the community they serve.
