Before the semesters’ final examinations, Legazpi Thomasians from the College of Law celebrated their Law Days on April 27 – 29, 2023 at UST-Legazpi.
Opening the event is a Holy Mass presided by Rev. Fr. Jose Baranda Jr., followed immediately by a Plenary talk on Land Titles and Property by the college’s Dean, Atty. Leandro M. Millano. Included also in the Law Days is a basketball cup with an opening match between Team Millano and Team Barrameda.
The second day was a test of mental capacity as students from different year levels jousted at the Peñafort Cup, a quiz bee of topics from Remedial, Political, and Labor Laws, including questions from Legal and Judicial Ethics among other bar subjects. A volleyball championship also happened on the second day with a strong fight between Team Geil and Team Shienna. The Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Albay Chapter graced the event, too, through an exhibition basketball game with the UST-Legazpi College of Law basketball players. Meanwhile, e-games featuring Mobile Legends and Valorant were included as well.
The last day was reserved for a smart exchange of banters a the Aquinas Cup – an organized debate competition in a Modified Asian Parliamentary structure with Legalizing Absolute Divorce in the Philippines as discourse. Attorneys Marylou Duka-Castillo, Dane Neil Ani, and Jener Barrameda served as judges.
The 2023 Law Days were conducted to show Legazpi Thomasian Law Students’ diligence and mastership don’t just exist in the four corners of their classrooms but even beyond their academic field.
