CCM LEADS FIRST HOLY COMMUNION RITES FOR PSE

After receiving the sacrament of Baptism, a child soon receives the body of Christ through the Sacrament of the Eucharist preceded by the Sacrament of Reconciliation or also known as the Act of Confession. At UST-Legazpi, this was administered through the leading efforts of the Center for Campus Ministry (CCM) to the university’s little Legazpi Thomasians from the Preschool and Elementary Department (PSE) on their First Holy Communion on February 17, 2023, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel.

The Holy Communion is the second sacrament in the Catholic Church. It recalls the Lord’s Last Supper on the night before His death. Children of ages 8 and above are eligible for the said sacrament by receiving the holy host after officially witnessing the breaking of bread and the sharing of the cup.

Rev. Fr. Joseph R. Raquid, OP, UST-Legazpi’s Chaplain, presided over this year’s First Communion with forty-seven (47) first communicants from grades 3 – 6. The proud parents happily assisted their children in this momentous chapter of their Catholic life.
