UST-LEGAZPI RETAINS ISO 9001:2015 CERTIFICATION AFTER SUCCESSFUL 3-DAY SURVEILLANCE AUDIT

Three years after obtaining its ISO 9001:2025 (International Organization for Standardization) Certification, the University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi continues to retain its credentials in upholding a Quality Management System after its recent success at the 2024 Surveillance Audit held on January 17 – 19, 2024.

The Surveillance Audit is an annual practice of the university where auditors from the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) visit the institution to conduct a virtual or in-person inspection of functional areas and their compliance with the standards imposed by ISO 9001:2015. This year, Mr. Arnold Dizon served as the surveillance auditor.

The Top Management, Preschool and Elementary Department, Junior High School, Senior High School, College of Health Sciences, and the Bikol Studies Center were audited during the first day.

Meanwhile, the College of Law, Graduate School, College of Business Management and Accountancy, Office of Research, Physical Plant and Facilities Management Office, Financial Resources Management Office, and the university’s Internal Quality Audit Team underwent inspection on the second day of the 2024 Surveillance Audit.

On the other hand, the third and last day was allotted for the Office of Planning and Development, Financial Resources Management Office-Purchasing Section, University Library and Information Services, and Office of the University Registrar to undergo checking.

During the closing meeting, SGS proudly declared that UST-Legazpi “has demonstrated the ability of the management system to systematically achieve requirements of the audit standard.”

SGS also commended the university and its infrastructures such as rooms, laboratories, offices, grounds, and others are well maintained which fosters a conducive learning environment.

The annual surveillance audit aims to determine the conformity of the university’s management system to regulatory and customer requirements, ensure client satisfaction, and identify areas for improvement.
