The University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi is proudly bringing home a total of 23 medals—7 Gold, 3 Silver, and 13 Bronze—from the National PRISAA Games 2025, held this year in Tuguegarao City.
The medal haul came from various sporting events, including swimming, taekwondo, beach volleyball and PRISAAYAWAN.
Among the top performers were: Javey Jesus M. Gojar and Bence Louis C. Baron, Swimming Boys 200M Medly Relay; Rayoki Brent Yap, Swimming Boys 50M Free Relay, 400M Free relay, 100M Free, 800M Free Relay and 50M Back; and Dominic Joe V. Bajamundi, Swimming Boys 400M Free Relay who clinched gold in their respective events. Silver medals were earned by PRISAAYAWAN Delagates; Javey Jesus M. Gojar and Bence Louis C. Baron, Swimming Boys 400m Relay; and Jian Mercado Portuito, 400m Medley Relay, while Mary Louise Frilles and Shaina Casey Mina, Swimming Girls 400M Medley Relay; Alea Faye Tence, Rayah Margaux Yap, and Lia Fatima Alcantara, Swimming Girls 200M Free Relay and 800M Free Relay; Rayoki Brent Yap, 50M Fly; Javey Jesus Gojar, 100M Free; Brence Louis C. Baron, 50M Back; Rex Eironn Failoga, 200M Free Relay and 800M Free Relay; Jian Mercado Porutuito, 100M Back, 200M Medley Relay, and 50M Back; Deanne Ysabelle Bobier, 400M Free Relay; Daniel Baylon, Keneth Pinon, and Joshua Maraya, Beach Volleyball Men; and Ashley Filtness for Taekwondo Kyorugi brought home bronze.
In a Facebook post, Marie Veronique Berdin, MAEd, Director of UST-Legazpi’s Center for Sports, Wellness, Culture and Arts, extended her heartfelt gratitude and pride toward the entire delegation.
“A huge thank you to our Legazpi Thomasian Tigers, you fought with all your heart. Medal or no medal, we are incredibly proud of how far you’ve come,” Berdin wrote.
She also thanked the coaches for their dedication, the UST-Legazpi community for their moral support, and the school administration, including Rev. Fr. Lao, the Rector and President; Fr. Pedroso, the Vice President for Administration and Finance; and Dr. Cabredo, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, for their continued guidance and encouragement throughout the journey.
The triumph in this year’s PRISAA Games highlights UST-Legazpi’s commitment to excellence not only in academics but also in sports and holistic student development.
