To help couples among the Legazpi Thomasian Community validate their union with the blessing of the sacrament of matrimony, UST-Legazpi’s Center for Campus Ministry (CCM) launched this year’s “Kasalang Bayan” last January 24, 2023, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel.
Rev. Fr. Joseph R. Raquid, OP, the university’s Chaplain graced the said matrimonial ceremony along with Rev. Fr. Ramiro M. De Belen, OP, Vice President for Religious Affairs.
The employees whose union was blessed by the Catholic church were: Mrs. Wilma A. Arienda (from the Financial Resources Management Office) and husband Mr. Lorben A. Arienda; Mrs. Joy S. Abecia (from the Office of Administration and Finance) and husband Mr. Jason V. Abecia; Mrs. Geraldine G. Madrona (from the Laboratories and Instrumentation Department) and husband Mr. Nolan B. Madrona; Mrs. Angelica A. Cabria (from the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education) and husband Mr. Jeffrey B. Cabria, and; Mr. Wenifredo A. Toledo (from Laboratories and Instrumentation Department) and wife Mrs. Elvira A. Toledo.
After the ceremony, the couples together with their closest families and Godparents proceeded to the Daragang Magayon Hall (DMH) for an exclusive reception program hosted by the university as a form of celebrating their marriage lives.
Meanwhile, in his opening remarks, Rev. Fr. De Belen revealed that this Kasalang Bayan took ten years before its actual realization. This was due to several impediments that occurred along the way. Nonetheless, Fr. Ram expressed his happiness on behalf of UST-Legazpi for the success of the said event.
Moreover, CCM is targeting to conduct this sacrament of matrimony biennially as part of its operational plan.
